She is cute as hell when she goes Nyaa~ and that's about it, but that's a big chunk of "it".

Also cuter in general.

Don't let your heart be swayed by Haru's recent popularity like you did with the legs debacle.

you know Kobayashi yu has nicer legs and you know Inoue Marina is the winningest!

A Short PSA

I don't actually have a "y" button. The little bouncy rubber thing disappeared ages ago and the button wouldn't fit into it's flimsy metal clamps...possibly bent out of shape clamps. The "y" button has since been abandoned and I have resorted to COPy and Paste from various places around the web. Since soup carries the font with the copy and past function don't be surprised at any sudden changes in font. I've become tired of having to try and backspace and continue in the same font I started in. So I'm not going to anymore.

Thoughts on Ethereal Week on #MALKeionbu

So listening to the various nominations for the up and coming ethereal week. As has become tradition, I am beginning to wonder if I have a different impression of Ethereal than the other members. My feeling of ethereal isn't clearly defined though. It's sort of a lightness in my head, maybe a hollowness, or emptiness.

The brief description Zzeroparticle gives is: "Light, floaty, out-of-body experiences I guess?". Which I think is appropriate but puts too positive a spin on the theme. I wouldn't say that there aren't positive ethereal songs, but in my experience the ethereal sound sends a shiver down your spine. It doesn't sound positive or negative. It sounds unreal. It sounds like music playing under water.

Frankly not many of the noms this week that I've listened to struck me that way. I guess if you wanted to put a more concrete spin on my thought process it might include phrases like electronica or ambience. Sounds that don't so much as play as emanate from a source. That's where it gets tough though because I'm not talking about a Spektor wall of sound. Though I think sometimes the effect can be similar. There needs to be a clear upward direction to the music.

Something that has bothered me since the club started. The dichotomy between being exemplar for the theme and actually being a good song. I've had many a song that I thought was exemplar for a theme but then deciding on whether that song was good or not and deciding which way to vote or comment always confused me. Which brings me to my own nomination. I'm unsure about it as well. I would classify it as ethereal but would I classify it as good? The tension that arises from the song is what strikes me most about it. I've seen just how good well placed rests serve to crank the tension up to 11. Funnily enough I think of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Tim Curry's rendition of "Sweet Transvestite.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Speaking(ish))
"So come up to the lab,
And see what's on the slab.
I see shiver with antici---*almost 5 second pause*-pation."

Granted I'm not sure that's even written into the score. Though I wouldn't be surprised if it was added in after Tim Curry's rendition. The point is the song has built up to the point and we hang on every word. The tension, the anticipation is palpable. Are the rests placed well enough in my nom to convey that same amount of tension but coming from a different emotion?

These are the questions I ask myself as I contemplate my nomination and whether to change it.

"Aki-chan. She gives off this image that she's always chewing gummy sweets"

That tears it, Aki is my one and only special someone.

I swear I can't recognize Toyosaki Aki for anything when she isn't flashing her goofy grin.

The Spring 2010 Anime Gauntlet

So I watch a lot of anime. I don't necessarily know if the amount is greater or less than the average but I know I watch some things far past their expiration date. So in some questionable effort to keep things organized I'm going to list out the shows I'm watching in order of preference.

1. Giant Killing - the show I look forward to the most.
2. Durarara - former leader has been declining as of late
3. Working!! - I am of the Inami loving crowd
4. Seikon no Qwaser (2nd cour) - the guiltiest pleasure
5. Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou - the dark horse
6. K-On!! - how is this going to go for 2cour?
7. Angel Beats - trainwreck
8. Arakawa Under the Bridge - light comedy by Sakamoto Maaya
9. Kaichou wa Maid-sama - climbing the ranks. idk why
10. Tatami Galaxy - rapidfire recursion with talking cowboy penis
11. B Gata H Kei - more talking libido's.
12. Fairy Tail (3rd cour) - still consistently decent.
13. Heroman - show is lawlsome. OP is catchy
14. House of the Five Leaves - samurai's need anti-depressants
15. Mayoi Neko Overrun - bad but 12 different directors entices
16. Rainbow - *insert manly yelling here*
17. Hakuouki - falling behind
18. Senkou no Night Raid - fallen behind...dropped actually. maybe I'll pick it up again.

So there you have it. There are a ton of other shows I'd love to finish but that list + burning through the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold sort of hinder me. Plus several of those shows I should have dropped ages ago.

Thoughts on Giant Killing 10

I knew from early on that there was going to be another episode that follows this game. Something about the way they panned around the stadium made me distinctly feel that they were stalling for time. This was the first episode that I thought perhaps the pace should have been a tad quicker. I'm not sure how I feel about extending this another episode. Though I can sort of see the flight-plan from a production PoV:

1st : Show how Tatsumi will stop Nagoya and the 3 Brazilian juggling champs from winning. Also flesh out Kuroda a bit.

(Kuroda is rapidly becoming one of my favorite characters. He's dumb but loyal. Malleable but not breakable. He doesn't cave under pressure. His pride is both his greatest weakness and, as we see in this game, his greatest strength.)

2nd: Show how Tatsumi actually intends to beat Nagoya. So far all he's show is how to stop the other team from beating ETU. This I think will be Tsubaki's episode to step up to the plate and finally get out of his funk.

I can't imagine them ending this set of episodes with ETU actually losing. They've been pushed too much to the breaking point. Unless they intend some kind of drama from the cheering squad requesting a resignation.

Giant Killing continues to be my most anticipated show of this current season. Which is funny since I have no fondness for the production company or any of the staff and the only seiyuu I really know anything about is Tomokazu Seki as Tatsumi. (I recognize Kuroda and Murakoshi but I couldn't place them.) Usually seiyuu is a big draw for me. I guess the pacing is just too quick to NOT get sucked into the story.

Micro Wut?

So going to try this micro blogging thing. I usually have a fair amount to say but I'm far too lazy to keep up with a formal blog. So here goes.
